A little bit of rules about the ideals of romance on this site:
1. Those allowed to romance each other are stallions and mares who are eligible. That means that the mare has to be unmarried at least, and that both parties must be of young adult (18-25 pony years)/adult (26-40 pony years) age.
2. Do not harrass people about pairings. In character, unless it is a best chemistry situation, it will likely reduce affection points between the characters due to fear or irritation. Outside of character, I will not be afraid to take action, if you are reported.
3. On the other hand, please be fair when playing a pairing. If the mare and stallion seem to be having good chemistry, at least go to the extent of "we can be friends", if you are not totally for the pairing. However, it is best to see how feelings go. Do not make your character immediate hate someone else just because you do not like the pairing. Try to give an adequate in-character reason, too, if a pairing is not to go through.
4. Stallion/Stallion pairings are not allowed. They are rare enough as it is. We do not need to increase scarcity.
5. Mare/Mare pairings will only be loosely permitted. Not unusual with the gender ratio circumstance, but it is not a condoned practice. Usually the mares will be better off both marrying the same stallion (technically being legally married as well). However, again, this practice will be permitted but not suggested.
6. It is up to a player to decide whether their stallion will be monogamistic or polygynistic.
7. For those concerned, married mares can leave the homestead to speak with other friends and other ponies. However, unless invited by a friend, they can not enter a stallion's territory that does not belong to their husband.
8. Stallions, these are ponies, not prizes. Treat wives with respect, even after marriage. If several mares have to sit on a homestead, feeling ignored while their husband is only going out to collect more mares and never comes home except to lodge another trophy wife on the shelf, I will concede to potential divorces. Remember, mares do run much of the government in this society.
9. Do not ask about when foals will come into play. Realize that it takes an eleven-month/one-year gestation period for equines, and that's after however long courtship takes. I will announce when second generation characters can come into play.
10. Rule nine can be amended, if there are enough requests for a special "Second generation/theorhetical future" set of boards to play "what if" children in order to see whether a couple feels comfortable or not.
Feel free to ask questions, if anything seems confusing.
